"The pandemic forced us all to improvise and think across the board. One opportunity in the dark was then to let the spring salon become also a summer salon," explains Liljevalch's manager Mårten Castenfors.

We recommend pre-purchase of tickets to the exhibition, but during the summer it will also be possible to "spontaneously buy" tickets in a cure outside the entrance.

A total of 4,093 applications had been received by Liljevalchs by the time the time expired on 15 October. We can probably track a corona effect there, with both more time for creation and need for comfort. The spring salon jury has selected 158 artists to show 323 works.

As in previous years, women are in the majority of applicants. Of those admitted, 85 are women and 73 are men. The average age is 52 years but the age range is 72 years in size! The age prize goes to the group Svärdets seniors Stockholm, where the oldest woman is 92 and six out of seven members have turned 80! The youngest at this Spring Salon are two women born in the millennium 2000.

Painting is always the dominant technique, if you include mixed techniques based on painting, there are 138 works. Photography again holds second place with 31 works, with sculpture/objects next, 29.

Almost half of the admitted persons reside in the Greater Stockholm area. Otherwise, the participants are spread across Sweden from Råneå to Degeberga, from Köpstadsö to Mörbylånga.

This year's jury included photographer and artist Jens Assur, artist Petra Hultman and Mårten Castenfors as the jury's chairman.
