SUMMARY:Visita comentada en español
DESCRIPTION:Visita comentada en español \n\n\n\nWhen We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in PaintingCuando Nos Vemos: Un siglo de Pintura y Figurativismo Negro \n\n\n\nTe invitamos a una visita comentada en español por la exposición When We See Us en Liljevalchs\, desde una perspectiva decolonial y afro centrada. \n\n\n\n\n\n Thursday February 19\, 6 PM \n\n\n\n Liljevalchs+ \n\n\n\n Get ticket

SUMMARY:Freddy Houndekindo: Becoming Tree
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with STHLM DANS\, Freddy Houndekindo invites you to a performative guidewalk to imagine new stories of Black life\, labor\, and becoming. \n\n\n\nThe performance Becoming Tree unfolds monthly throughout the duration of When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting\, at Liljevalchs. Rooted in dance and movement\, the work turns the performer’s body into a vessel of rhythm\, voice\, and breath — where labor and recovery coexist in cycles of repetition and renewal. Blending French\, English\, Fongbe\, and sound\, the performance celebrates the richness of diasporic expression and frames Black creative production as a holistic practice within a pan-African and global dialogue. Like the sacred tree\, it invites visitors to gather\, listen and imagine new stories of Black life\, labor\, and becoming.Created and performed by Freddy HoundekindoAmbassador for Southnord in collaboration with LiljevalchsPhotos by Carlos ZayaSupported by RiksteaternIn collaboration with Southnord \n\n\n\nFreddy Houndekindo is an interdisciplinary artist situated at the intersection of dance\, performance text and installation. SUMMARY:Talk: Michael Rosen on Dignity
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening with a talk by the philosopher and Harvard professor Michael Rosen centered on the concept of dignity\, followed by a guided tour of the exhibition When We See Us by Director of Liljevalchs\, Joanna Sandell Wright.  \n\n\n\nDignity runs through modern life\, from the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations to the ways that we look at one another when we meet. Yet it is puzzling too. Dignity has meant very different things to different people at different times and places. The philosopher\, Michael Rosen\, will bring out some of those ideas and ask what they tell us about ourselves. \n\n\n\nMichael Rosen is the Senator Joseph S. Clark Professor of Ethics in Politics and Government at Harvard University. Among his books are Dignity: its History and Meaning (2012) and The Shadow of God: Kant\, Hegel and the Passage from Heaven to History (2022). \n\n\n\nAfter the talk\, Joanna Sandell Wright\, Director of Liljevalchs\, will give a guided tour of the exhibition When We See Us\, with a focus on the concept of dignity.Limited number of seats. Prepurchase your ticket to ensure your spot. The ticket is also valid as admission to the exhibition. \n\n\n\nThe talk is held in English. \n\n\n\nImage: Michael Rosen. \n\n\n\n\n\n Tuesday June 9th at 5PM \n\n\n\n Liljevalchs+ \n\n\n\n Prepurchase your ticket
