Video Chile, 1973-2023
16 August 2023 - September 3, 2023
Liljevalchs invites you to a film program that stem from the memory of the military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973, which took place 50 years ago. An event that also marks the beginning of the Chilean diaspora in Sweden.
Opening in conjunction with the Stockholm Culture Festival in the city, the exhibition brings together artists from different generations, all with their own connections to the events in Chile. In their works, they relate in one way or another to the memory and experience of the 1973 coup d'état and its aftermath.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a program evening (fully booked) will be presented on 17 August at 17-20 with a food performance, Limóncitos para Margarita, by Cristian Quinteros Soto, poetry reading by Nachla Libre and a seminar. Why should we remember? And what about inherited stories? The discussion will be moderated by Joanna Sandell Wright, Director of Liljevalchs.
The exhibition and evening program is curated by André Córdova Rudstedt and Ricard Estay in collaboration with Liljevalchs.
Participants:
Annie Andersson, Angela Bravo, Paola Bruna, Juan Castillo, André Córdova Rudstedt, Emma Dominguez, Ricard Estay, Gorki Glaser-Müller, Leandro Netzell Cerón, Patricio Salinas and Villiam Törngren González.
