Karin Johansson

In Karin Johansson's work, materials range from gold and enamel to aluminium and plastic in a search for balance, rhythm and movement. Her jewellery abstractly reflects who she is, portraying both her own experiences and the everyday world around us.

Through size, transformation of materials and the search for balance, the works in Observations from a distance explore the representation of visual impressions during a sweltering, hot summer. Here, the very experience of views is mixed with a sense of distance. The properties of materials are controlled and transformed. We see aluminium in watercolour-like light and flowing tones that become shimmering light-catchers and are combined with sometimes taut and sometimes twisted, undulating acrylics.

Karin Johansson was born in 1964 and works in Gothenburg
