Sonja Larsson awarded the Capris Scholarship 2023

The artist Sonja Larsson is awarded the Liljevalchs and San Michele Foundation scholarship.


Liljevalchs and the San Michele Foundation have a long-standing collaboration for the benefit of the arts, aimed at artists who have enriched or enrich Stockholm's culture in one way or another. The scholarship includes three weeks' accommodation at Villa San Michele in Capri, plus SEK 50,000 for travel and subsistence.

The 2023 scholarship winner, Sonja Larsson, has worked consistently year after year to geometrically layer her paint on canvas and acrylic. Grand, abstract and poetic. What more could you ask for? Sonja Larsson is awarded the Liljevalch and San Michele Scholarship in the hope that the beauty of the place will further enrich her mind for future feats.

Sonja Larsson was born in 1955 and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm. Konsthögskolan in Stockholm 1980-85.

In addition to Mårten Castenfors, director of Liljevalchs, and Kristina Kappelin, curator of Villa San Michele, the scholarship jury included the artists Henrik Samuelsson and Susanne Vollmer.
