As a photographer, I’ve always been drawn to moments that often pass unnoticed. I’m interested in creating perspectives that leave room for wonder, for questions, for recognition. Images that don’t explain everything, but instead invite the viewer in, allowing them to fill the gaps with their own story.
This is a part of a series captured at Notting Hill Carnival 2023, in London. I arrived with my camera as I always do, with zero expectation, letting the city lead. The streets were alive. People showed up as their unfiltered, joyful selves, and I captured parts of that energy as it unfolded.
These photographs hold fleeting moments born out of celebration, of culture, of movement, of restless souls living without restraint. Moments that cannot be repeated or recreated. Blink, and they’re gone.
Here, the ordinary dissolves into something else: fragments of freedom, brief escapes from the structures of everyday life. These are some of the scenes that stopped me in my tracks. These moments have lingered as questions more than answers, a glimpse into what freedom might be.
What is freedom?
