A visit to Liljevalchs can take everything from an hour to a full day. Below, you’ll find some suggestions on how to plan your visit depending on how much time you have.
If you’ve got one hour:
Focus on one of our exhibitions, so that you have time to see it properly, Vårsalongen 2026 or When We See Us – A Century of Black Figuration in Painting. If you’re visiting on a Tuesday-Friday we recommend that you join one of our free brief introductions to the exhibitions, held by one of our knowledgeable art hosts, 12PM for When We See Us and 3PM for Vårsalongen.
If you’ve got two hours:
Two hours is enough time to see both of our exhibitions, Vårsalongen 2026 and When We See Us – A Century of Black Figuration in Painting. If you’re visiting on a Tuesday-Friday we recommend that you join one of our free brief introductions to the exhibitions, held by one of our knowledgeable art hosts, 12PM for When We See Us and 3PM for Vårsalongen. Complete your visit by having a look in our shop located in Liljevalchs+, or by having a coffee at our café Blå+.
If you have a full day:
Start by visiting Vårsalongen 2026 and Ung Vårsalong that are both located in the old building. Feel free to purchase the catalogue for Vårsalongen in our front desk, so that you can leaf through it while seeing the exhibition. After that, take a break for lunch at restaurant Blå Porten. If the sun is shining, we recommend you have a seat in their garden. From there, you go over to Liljevalchs+ and see When We See Us – A Century of Black Figuration in Painting. Don’t miss the architecture in Liljevalchs+, designed by architect Gert Wingårdh. Complete your visit by having a look in our shop, where you can purchase a memory from the Kunsthalle. On the way home, we recommend that you pass by our square and say hello to Charlotte Gyllenhammars sculpture Ute, Flicka.
If you’re visiting Liljevalchs with children:
If you’re visiting Liljevalchs with children, we recommend you borrow one of our Art Keys and go on a discovery walk among all the art works in Vårsalongen 2026. See if you can find all the works the image keys lead to.
The digital application usually opens in late August/early September. The dates may vary depending on the year. Here you can find everything you need to know about applying to Vårsalongen.
Pets are not permitted in the Kunsthalle, mainly due to allergies but also for the sake of the pet’s wellbeing. Service animals are welcome, but must be leashed and attended at all times. Inform us in the front desk upon arrival.
