Stockholm Nu Jazz Festival
27 May 2022 All day
Jazz Festival Stockholm Now visits Liljevalchs with a full evening of music. The headliner is none other than the legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter, who together with the big band STHLM starka offers rich and virtuosic big band jazz.
Stockholm Nu is a new and vibrant jazz festival that is being held for the first time, at Liljevalchs. During the festival night, Ron Carter will be joined by the Swedish big band STHLM starka. Together they will play his original compositions, arranged for large band, from the album My Personal Songbook.
Ron Carter is one of the most unique, prolific and influential bassists in the history of jazz music. Between 1963 and 1968, he played in Miles Davis' acclaimed quintet. STHLM starka is a large band created especially for this project. It consists of some of Sweden's most prominent and promising jazz musicians today such as Per "Texas" Johansson, Jonas Kullhammar, Ann-Sofi Söderqvist, Fredrik Ljungkvist, and Goran Kajfeš.
The festival will also feature STHLM svaga, which plays jazz music in a weak way, and Goran Kajfeš Tropiques with cellist Leo Svensson Sander and violinist Josefin Runsteen.
